August 1, 1907 ... Lord Robert Baden-Powell sounded his kudu horn on Brownsea Island at 8:00am to open the world's first Scout camp
August 1, 2007 ... Every Scout, from every WOSM country will park the centenary by looking to the past, present, and most importantly, to the future of Scouting.
The worldwide theme for the Centenary celebration is One World One Promise. At sunrise starting with those living closest to the international date line and sweeping westwards around the globe and back to the date line again, Scouts and former Scouts will gather together to mark the moment 100 years ago when Baden-Powell first blew his Kudu horn on Brownsea Island to open the first Scout camp.
Why Celebrate?
Who Should Celebrate?
When to Start?...NOW!
What Can You Do?
How can you do this?
The Join-in-Centenary program will allow every Scout around the world participate in the Centenary of Scouting through activities and celebrations even if they are not at the actual events. Join-in-Centenary program packets will be available in 2006 on the internet at www.scouting.org.
Gift for Peace
Each national Scout organization will propose and lead a national project involving Scouts from all age groups for at least one year. The projects should be a worthwhile project, which responds to the needs of young people in that particular country.
